Beyond Close Reading:
Facilitating Students’ Engagement with Informational Text

Close reading involves teacher guidance as we get students to delve deeper into the meaning of text. Then what? Using Common Core standards as a guideline, this presentation will offer ideas that teachers can use in classrooms to facilitate students' exploration of informational texts--independently of the teacher.
